The School of Architecture, Design and Civil Engineering
The School of Architecture, Design and Civil Engineering is not only rich in tradition, but is also one of the largest and most innovative educational institutions of its kind in the Swiss university of applied sciences landscape.
The degree programmes offer aspiring young professionals outstanding educational opportunities to prepare them for their future careers. The programmes have close connections with application-oriented research and development and graduate level education, thus helping to create synergies between the two distinct professions of the architect and the civil engineer, and promoting cooperation and mutual understanding between them. In the field of architecture and civil engineering, the ZHAW is recognised as a compact university of applied sciences with valuable links to important universities at home and abroad.
The Institute of Architecture and Building Technology is the centre for all the ZHAW’s research, continuing education and service activities in the fields of architecture, design and civil engineering. Together with a continuing education platform, two centres form the core of the Institute: the Center for Urban Landscape and the Center for Constructive Design. In addition, periodic or spontaneous activities initiated by other subject areas within the School, such as graduate level education, knowledge transfer and services, find their home base in the Institute.
